Married
I guess time really does go by quickly.  I remember that Robert Kennedy was shot the night before graduation, and that same night my father's bar burned to the ground when a beer compressor overheated.  On a personal note, I live in St. Louis Park, and I'm married to a wonderful woman Wendy, who is my second wife.  Between us, we have 5 children and six grand-children.  I served in the U.S. Naval Air Reserve for 12 years (hoping to stay out of Viet Nam,) worked for a liquor distributor and then I have been selling cars and trucks for 35 years.   I was voted Best New & Used Car and Truck salesperson for the last 8 years in a row in the local Sun News papers.  I hope you will take the time to check out my fun and interesting website:  https://www.ackermanautoadvantage.com/ .  I'm saddened by how many friends and classmates have passed away since scool, but am looking forward to seeing and spending time with all of you at our 50th reunion.  Cya there! 50 years already? How'd that happen?
College on the 8 yr plan, Married the love of my life, Karen (47 yrs and still going strong), 4 kids, 6 grandkids, 3 minivans, 1 SUV, a paid-off mortgage, a very satisfying career, and retirement.  What a ride!
I worked 46 years as a cardiovascular perfusionist. A what?  Working with heart-lung machines and other cardiac and respiratory support devices.  I spent most of my day in the operating room with occaissional forays into ICUs and cardiac cath labs.  If anyone has had coronary bypass surgery, valve replacements, heart transplant, etc., it involved people like me.  I also did some medical mission work for the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation, making a number of trips to India and Ethiopia providing charitable cardiac surgical services to children.
Karen and I are involved with a large disability ministry at our church (one of our sons has Down Syndrome),  as well as with Bible Study Fellowship International.

Single Again
After reading profiles I decided to add a little bit of what has happened in my life.
Graduated from Moorhead State then St. Cloud State.  Went overseas and worked for military.  Returned to USA and worked in every State in the Union but the far Northeast of country.  Settled working for HS in the West and after arriving in Oregon decided to quit the Feds and work for the State.  Just retired from being a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the State of Oregon.  In 2016 after retiring drove cross country to Florida via the northern route.  Loved every minute of it.  Stopped at National Parks and Monuments.  Wow!  What a beautiful country we live in!  Yep I ended a sentence with a preoposition, sorry Ms. Goins.  I took two months to arrive in Florida.  What a trip!
Went back to Cuba in September 2017 to scatter my mom's and bother's ashes.  Was not allowed to do so by the Cuban authorities.  They were scattered in Cuban waters.  Better than nothing. I accomplished my promise to them.
The Cuban people living conditions are atrocious but somehow they survive and live a day at a time.  Now I truly know why I have survived so many difficult times in my life.
I will be driving up to Minnesota via as many National Parks as possible.  No time schedule except to get to St. Louis Park by 21 September 2018.  (21 September is my 57th year anniversary of arriving in the US from Cuba) (Remember Sparky? Woodstock?) I truly tried living my life as the words of The "Associations song "Windy"- Who is tripping down the streets of the city; Smilin' at everybody she sees; Who's reachin' out to capture a moment; Everyone knows it's "Lili")
.
See you in September!

I can’t believe it has been 50 years already.  We have all embarked on our own journeys as I expect.  My journey led me to the Bay Area to play rugby in the San Francisco Rugby Tournament in 1974.  Danny Johnson (DJ) got me into rugby after college (U of M). In 1998 I picked up and moved West to the Bay Area. Leaving Medtronic, where I met Darlene my wife of 38 years, we both continued in the medical device industry working for a few large and small companies. In 2003 we decided to start our own medical device consulting company called Experien Group, no not the Experian credit checking company. We have offices in San Diego and our corporate office in San Jose. While co-managing the company, I still stay involved with a few of my favorite sports, such as golfing, ice hockey, rugby, and horse show jumping. We have 1 son, Joe, who is 33 years old and we also have 5 feral cats, 2 dog, 3 horses and an African Grey Parrot (large vocabulary). I am very excited to see our Class of ’68 and catch up with everyone.

Fifty years already?!  I was married in 1975 to my lovely wife, Barbara.  The marriage is still going strong......for 43 years.  We have a son (Doug) who's a Presbyterian minister, and a daughter (Lisa) who's a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  So proud of them both!

I got my undergrad degree from St. Cloud State, then earned an MA in Demography from Bowling Green State (in Ohio).  Then worked for 32 years at USAID, based in the Washington, DC area.  After working for 3 more years in the private sector, I decided to work as an independent consultant....mainly working on evaluations of USAID-funded programs operating in less-developed countries all over the world.

In my spare time, I enjoy being active in my local church (Doylestown Presbyterian), where I'm an elder, a choir member, and a Bible Study leader for adults. Also love to play golf, go hiking, and enjoy the arts.

Would love to connect with my SLP classmates, and hear what you've been up to!

All the best,  Dick Cornelius

Married 2
A photo from this summer. I had just heroically rescued a chair that had blown off the dock :-)

After high school , I did a bachelor's degree in English at Moorhead State. Then I had a few years of bouncing around, mostly teaching. I starting dating my wife Jo (from Watertown, MN) in July of 1978, and we were married in December. Hmmm ... 40 years in December. I had best remember that. We were in Long Prairie for 6 years, with our daughters born in 1981 and 1984. (They are now all grown up, married, financially independent, and each has one child.) In 1984 we all moved to Moorhead so I could be a grad student and Jo could be an undergrad. In February of 1986 we moved to Mankato, where I taught in the computer science department until I retired this past May. (I did three years of "spring-semester-only" before retiring ... phasing into retirement.)

I am now more-or-less living at the lake full time, with trips to Mankato (because Jo is way younger than I am and still teaching first grade), Springfield, Il (where my teen-age grandson lives), and Bloomington, MN (where my almost 1-year-old granddaughter lives).

I will miss all y'all (I lived in Georgia for a while) at the reunion ... I am planning to have some grandson time, as he has a 3-day weekend.
