Single Again
After reading profiles I decided to add a little bit of what has happened in my life.
Graduated from Moorhead State then St. Cloud State.  Went overseas and worked for military.  Returned to USA and worked in every State in the Union but the far Northeast of country.  Settled working for HS in the West and after arriving in Oregon decided to quit the Feds and work for the State.  Just retired from being a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the State of Oregon.  In 2016 after retiring drove cross country to Florida via the northern route.  Loved every minute of it.  Stopped at National Parks and Monuments.  Wow!  What a beautiful country we live in!  Yep I ended a sentence with a preoposition, sorry Ms. Goins.  I took two months to arrive in Florida.  What a trip!
Went back to Cuba in September 2017 to scatter my mom's and bother's ashes.  Was not allowed to do so by the Cuban authorities.  They were scattered in Cuban waters.  Better than nothing. I accomplished my promise to them.
The Cuban people living conditions are atrocious but somehow they survive and live a day at a time.  Now I truly know why I have survived so many difficult times in my life.
I will be driving up to Minnesota via as many National Parks as possible.  No time schedule except to get to St. Louis Park by 21 September 2018.  (21 September is my 57th year anniversary of arriving in the US from Cuba) (Remember Sparky? Woodstock?) I truly tried living my life as the words of The "Associations song "Windy"- Who is tripping down the streets of the city; Smilin' at everybody she sees; Who's reachin' out to capture a moment; Everyone knows it's "Lili")
.
See you in September!

Married 2
Fifty years already?!  I was married in 1975 to my lovely wife, Barbara.  The marriage is still going strong......for 43 years.  We have a son (Doug) who's a Presbyterian minister, and a daughter (Lisa) who's a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  So proud of them both!

I got my undergrad degree from St. Cloud State, then earned an MA in Demography from Bowling Green State (in Ohio).  Then worked for 32 years at USAID, based in the Washington, DC area.  After working for 3 more years in the private sector, I decided to work as an independent consultant....mainly working on evaluations of USAID-funded programs operating in less-developed countries all over the world.

In my spare time, I enjoy being active in my local church (Doylestown Presbyterian), where I'm an elder, a choir member, and a Bible Study leader for adults. Also love to play golf, go hiking, and enjoy the arts.

Would love to connect with my SLP classmates, and hear what you've been up to!

All the best,  Dick Cornelius

Single Again 3
I am looking forward to coming to the reunion.   I was one of those graduates of 68 but had minimal interactions in high school.  I met my husband as a freshman.  He was 4 years older and went to the U so my life existed outside of Park.

I am currently retired from a lifelong career of being educated (I have a few degrees) and also being an educator.  That happens when your an overachiever married into a family with doctors.  Somehow, ya gotta measure up.  Obviously, that didn’t work out as planned even though we were together over 25 years and have 3 children.

My daughter and her husband died and left me with a 4 year old daughter and a 5 month old baby to raise just about the time I was thinking that an escape to Ireland would be cool.  Man how life changes.  So, I can claim that I bet I am the only one of us to have been a senior citizen and also have had a kindergartner.

I currently am still parenting a teenager.  Shawn is s freshman at Minnetonka and I also have a daughter that is 18. So, I really have 5 children, not 3.  That will let you know why I am still a bit crazy.  Working as an educator in alternative education with high risk adolescents for 30+ years also may be a reason why.

My life isn’t what I thought it would be when I graduated 50 years ago, but I  am blessed.  I own my own home, have a cabin on Lake  Osakis, and have had a life filled with unexpected adventures.  Currently, my life is nonstop baseball as my youngest plays for the high school and is in a Travel Baseball team the rest of the season.

Married 2
My wife and I have raised 2 sons in the town of Ossining, NY,  just north of New York City, where we've lived since 1987. I'm retired as a film/TV critic after 43 years at newspapers and magazines. But I still do some freelance writing and work as critic-in-residence at The Picture House in Pelham, NY, curating a regular film series, and as a contributing editor for Cigar Aficionado magazine, where I've been writing cover stories since 2008. I've written three books and directed two documentary features and one documentary short. You can find my 2017 film "Robert Klein Still Can't Stop His Leg" at Starz On Demand. Married 3
I moved to Israel in 1970 after studying for two years at the U of M.  Lived on a kibbutz, studied ceramics in Jerusalem, married a new immigrant from Argentina and moved to live permanently on a communal agricultural settlement called Moshav Kochav Michael Sobell.  Our moshav is located in the southern part of the country not far from Ashkelon.  In the beginning, my husband and I raised various types of flowers for export along with livestock for local produce.  When my three children grew older, I returned to college, completed a teacher's degree in EFL (English as a Foreign Language) and began teaching at a local elementary school.  I taught for 20 years and during this time also completed my master's degree in education at Loughborough University in England specializing in the instruction of children with learning difficulties, dyslexia and autism.  After retiring from the Ministry of Education, I returned to my high school favorite pastime:  art.  Now, in addition to giving private language lessons, I keep myself busy with personal and public mosaic projects and of course babysitting my 8 grandchildren.
This will be the first high school reunion I will be attending.  Looking forward to seeing many familiar faces and sharing memories with old friends.

After St. Louis Park High, I graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield with a history major and a teaching credential. I received my only job offer that fall in Preston in southeastern Minnesota. I taught social studies for 35 years in Preston-Fountain and Fillmore Central schools (same school, just merged together with Harmony). In the 10 years since retirement, my wife and I have traveled around the United States and Europe, including a winter sojourn each year to Hawaii. With my wife, we have hosted 28 foreign exchange students at our house, and have many great memories from doing that. Send David a MessageSend David a Message
